As we didn't have a lecture this morning I ventured to Moore Wilson's to check out the option of getting bulk cups. Unfortunately my cups need to be completely enclosed so the user cannot tell which colour the liquid inside is, and all of the options that were cheap enough are plastic cups with open areas.
To get around this issue I could get one of those sleep mask things to cover the user's eyes and then mix the colours/tastes in. I still haven' decided which is better, to have things that we all thing taste like one thing, or to just have colours. If colour and taste is only perception then having taken away the eyesight might mean this is a bit of an issue!
I saw these ketchup bottles which would be awesome in terms of being able to cover what is inside and them not being able to see when the contents goes into their mouth - but I would need more lids so I could change them to keep it hygenic. Also it might end up being expensive!
I also have an array of coloured paper at home, so having a nicely presented colour palate for the user to choose from is easy.
I'm not sure what to do on Friday for user testing, I think I might focus on the other idea I had as I can see me being able to pull that off before friday. I just need an eye cover thing and a selection of objects - then I can get them to guess which ones I am using. I'll be able to pull that off in time for Friday whereas I think I need to research this colour taste one a bit more before I put any money into it.
Good use of lecture free time I think!
