5% Project Development

Alrighty...when we were introduced into our 'theory' of "Design should reflect a global culture" I was a little disappointed as we were talking a lot about politics and I felt like the message was being lost in confusion. But as we talked about it more and developed we all came clear on our thoughts and decided that we don't want a global culture of design and think it shouldn't be reflected in a homogenous way.

We discovered we agreed that for a global design to come together, many beautiful cultures designs would have to be left out. This restricts rich histories of beautiful design, and also results in less creativity and design innovations as all design would follow the same set of rules and guidelines.

Some images of our design process and story boarding are below. We have decided to print various cultures distinct patterns on the wood, and then morph some of them to show that in order to create standardised design, lots of history and design will need to be lost. Individuals identify with their own culture and it becomes a part of who they are.

We are currently creating the panels in illustrator. Then we need to laser cut and video. ek!
