206 Research - Vintage Inspired Webpages

I found this link today regarding vintage webpages and realised perhaps I don't like the traditional vintage design...The only one I like from that is this one...

I like the yellow stripes.

Love the scalloped circle title, and the bottom banner thing

Fancy - like the title, and the pastel colours

Although these have cute elements, the pages themselves are very clean and modern looking. I have also looked at all my blogs that I follow and most of them are very light background color -it anything. The focus is on the contents.

So polka dots, pastels, stripes are all things I like. I'm unsure whether this kind of thing should be a portfolio site - or just a website - as portfolio sites should I feel be kept quite basic and the focus on the work...hhmm

Still trying to decide on my brand. I really want to use "KarlytheRedhead" as I think its unique and fun, and if I was a fashion Designer for example it would be ideal - but others comments have me thinking it might be too unprofessional sounding. I just dont want to be like everyone else and have "Karly Designs" or something super generic....
