Coding
Today I spent all day (with the exception of 12-1) trying to code my interaction. I have established that
a) you need to have a logical/ basic mathematical brain to pick things up, and also to think the way processing needs me to think. I think the opposite naturally.
b) no matter how many times you try things it wont work if you have no idea whether they will work and why they aren't working to begin with.
c) I need more friends in coding class. There is a lot of people helping other people hot at school, but I don't feel like I can ask them too...I even posted free food and drink to someone who wanted to help and I had no takers! (wwaaaaaa)
So I have managed to get my balloons all in a row and working independently from one and other with random sizes of ellipses (within reason) and also random X placement of the balloons.
I am not sure if this is the kind of thing that an Array is good for - all the examples use animated, like speed or counting up by 1 in their arrays, but I actually just want 9 different balloons in different spots relatively evenly spaced - so I don't know if an array will help me do that. I can't figure them out, I have watching numerous tutorials and asked for help, but unless the example is of something that I can use (e.g putting objects in selected spots and nothing more) i'm not sure how to use it, or what to call if that makes sense.
I also had a chat with a guy in my coding tutorials who said he got an hour of 1 on 1 Steven time after the lecture, of which I am very jealous of and so I am hoping to get some time with him to see if I can sort my code out.
Currently I understand what it's doing, which generally means I've done it wrong because I do it the non math's way by nature which doesn't help when things get complicated.
So issues I am trying to focus on now is to get the ellipses to increase in size (to a point) when mouseclicked, BUT only when clicked on the ellipses, this is proving to be a whole lot harder than I anticipated! I am also trying to figure out how to get the balloons following the mouse. Simple stuff for someone who knows what they are doing....I understand how it works once it's pointed out to me, but can't fathom how to write it alone. it's obviously something to do with mouseX, because I don't want it to follow in the Y direction, but everything I try just stuffs up my balloons.
I haven't even started to think about how the lines are going to cut, or how the balloons are going to float up and pop. One thing at a time.
So trying to book some time with a tutor is the best way from here if nobody from class knows how to help... oh Steeevveennn ;)
Im not sure about colours yet - I know I want it to be pastels, but no sure about the background...originally I wanted blue-ish because balloons float up in the sky...
