Recently I have been focusing on designed and have started construction of the final experiment.
In the weekend I purchased the 12mm MDF board that I will be using for the box element of my experiment - previously I was going to be using 6mm, but after thinking about how it was going to be put together, I realised that the product wouldn't be as strong as I wanted it to be and so the decision to get 12mm was made.
I am going to make the box at home as I have the tools and materials here, but once constructed I will be taking the box to school to spray-paint and put together the final touches etc. I am a little nervous that presentation is only a week away, and I had many other things going on in the other papers, but hopefully it all goes to plan! (not that any of my working with materials projects have ever gone to plan while constructing!).
Today during class time I made some objects that I will be using as the objects to make noise with. I have an acrylic cylinder that I crafted. A wooden cube, a hollow MDF shape (probably a triangle) and also a quirky porcelain shape showing both textures were worked on today.
Given that I want to use some household items as I think the element of recognition causes users to think they will be able to identify the objects easier, I have about 6-7 of the items for the final project worked out.
We have...
Acrylic Cylinder (unfinished)
Wood block (unfinished)
Porcelain Peice (unfinished)
MDF hollow shape (unfinished)
Glass
Metal Lid
Tin Case
Rubber Bouncy Ball
Plastic Comb
Cork sanding block
Ceramic Bowl
Better to have too many as opposed to not enough! Now I need to figure out whether some items are less necessary or too similar to others and get my object choice down to 9 final objects so I can focus on the rest of the projects.
Steps towards finishing
1. Glue wooden object together
2. Cut MDF and screw box together
3. Plaster box and prime, ready for spray paint.
4. Sand back ceramic piece, acrylic edges, and MDF shape (if necessary as I think looking at the list of materials it may get the cut)
5. Buy 6mm mdf and cut out shapes ready for base on objects side and front of visual side.
6. Take good photos and print these and names on nice paper along with instructions to put along side experiment.
7. get material for inserts
8. Spraypaint
9. put all together and check for things I may have missed
Meanwhile get my marketing report finished, try and understand loops and start on my final coding structure AND study for my 20% psychology test.
EEEEEKKKKKKKK!!!!!
