Final Stop Motion

Credits
  • The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra for giving me permission to use part of 'This Charming Man' in my clip.
  • Beethoven
  • The lovely boyfriend for being the character and enduring the countless photo sessions in front of a green sheet in our lounge.
Note: I was told it was ok to include sounds which I have not been given permission to use as this is not a project that will be released commercially. This aside, I have attempted to get answers from the artists below with no luck. The references songs are Britney Spears, 'Womanizer', and Josh Ritter's 'Snow is Gone'.

Stop Motion

I have been playing around with different music choices for that last week. I went through a lot of classical music trying to find one that had the intense boosts, but also wasn't too much.  I finally settled on Beethoven for the  Culture and Context part of my clip. This music is fine to use as the copyright laws have long expired.

My tutor has said previously that as long as we credit our music, its fine to continue using without permission. But others have said it has to be legit, so I am seeing if I can get clarification from my tutor before hand in.

The media part I was hoping could be longer, but as I need to put emphasis on other areas, and have cut out all I can of the industrial part (the longest part) so the transitions  make sense. I consulted The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra for permission to use their music in my clip and have permission.

The  other music is by international artists and I will credit them, but unfortunately could no get written permission. I included sounds from freesounds.org. also to create more atmosphere for each section.

Currently I am playing around with brightness and trying to get the music transitions seamless. And also contacting Britney Spears and Josh Ritter to see if I can have permission to use their music as they are the only two songs I have used which I legally am not able to.

Storyboards

This is a big shot of the cartoon images I have created on plywood. As I am showing all three disciplines I have broken my storyboards into three parts.  The plywood contains four images.

This images will show what the start of my stop motion will show and that is an introduction to design school

This is obviously my character entering the Schools of Architecture and Design building

This next image shows the character being thrust into a crazy industrial design world, where he is bombarded with models, materials and equipment.

The second industrial image shows the second model in the industrial design part of the stop/motion
This the initial image for the culture and context part of the stop/motion. The character will walk onto a blank canvas and the the chair will appear and he will take a seat. The storyboards are presented on newspaper as I think this relates well back to culture and context.
The next section of the clip will show my character seated while many images from the slides pass buy and appear, he will begin to look very overwhelmed.
A close up of the gold plated dragon.
Close up of the other pictures and the character turning around on the couch.

Above is the final image of the culture and context section - which shows after many images and items have appeared - the final one (the bread plate by Pugin) will follow onto the screen after the Victorian dinner plate has past - but the bread plate will be on path to squash the character if he isn't careful!

The character escaping away from the bread plate.
The next section of my clip will show the character getting dragged onto a photoshop template.

After much confusion - back-round colour changes, and his clothes changing and shapes/patterns (possibly optical illusions happening around him - my character will escape the photoshop programme.

The character will run to the exit as if to escape - and while he pauses to catch his breath he will look up at the camera and smile a knowing smile that shows he actually wants to go back inside and continue this new way of seeing.

The clip will end with the character peeking back inside the door to design school. While the experience is overwhelming and he isn't sure where it will take him, he wants to be inside.
